Numbers, Know How and Navigating LEED in Affordable Housing: Financing Green Multifamily Retrofits

Even if every new construction residential project built this year was green, that would still only impact 1% of our housing stock.  The way to make a meaningful impact throughout the residential sector is to retrofit our existing buildings. Multifamily retrofits couple the inherent greenness of improving an existing building with high density smart development.  However, in the affordable housing sector, financing is critical and holds the keys to any development project.

This session will highlight the financing tools used to achieve green improvements in existing affordable housing developments. Tools highlighted in this session will include creating an energy efficiency‐based utility allowance (EEBUA) through a local housing authority, building green alternatives into an existing capital needs assessment, and creating partnerships to expand and document improved health outcomes. In addition to useful case studies, this session will direct participants to specific resources that can help implement these improvements locally.

This session is approved for 1.5 hours of General (Not LEED Specific) GBCI hours in 1 Project Surrounding and Public Outreach, .5 Synergistic Opp as well as 1.5 AIA/CES LU/HSW hours.

Bring your dinner with you, relax and listen into the webcast.
