MAIN PROGRAM – ENGINEERING GREEN – GREEN LITIGATION

BACKGROUND: With the advancement of LEED and designing “Green”, the topic will discuss the potential liabilities in designing such applications. Topics include Tort Law, Contract Law, and Codes and Standards. We will look at Standard Care including Negligence and Reasonable Care and how designing “Green” affects Standard Care. We will discuss how to protect yourself while designing LEED Buildings.

GUEST SPEAKER: Mark Shultz, Attorney at Law, Henderson/Franklin Undergraduate Degree: James Madison University, B.A., summa cum laude, 1989 Law Degree: University of Florida College of Law, J.D., 2002 Admitted to The Florida Bar: 2002 Mark Schultz focuses his practice in the area of Tort and Insurance Litigation, defense of design professionals in civil suits, construction and design professional contract drafting, and defense of design professional in administrative complaints before the Board of Professional Engineers and the Board of Architecture and Interior Design.  His experience includes complex litigation involving medical malpractice cases, torts, insurance defense disputes, business dispute cases, and lien law and collection matters involving design professional and claims of lien. Mark is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, as well as all Florida State Courts.
Mark has lived in Southwest Florida for the past eight years.
