This presentation, sponsored by the Sierra Club, will remind us of the critical importance of our buildings.  It will also help re-shape our understanding of our buildings, especially as to their role in our state's and nation's overall energy, power and water demand.

Using photographs from around the world, attendees will be taken on a journey that will provide a clear context for the challenges on the road to sustainability.  What are the challenges that exist to meaningful market transformation? What truly defines a high performance building? Where do we go from here?
Building Scientist Christopher Mathis recently was recognized as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, conducting seminars on a variety of building science, energy efficiency and sustainability topics across the US and worldwide. Now, as president of Mathis Consulting Company(MC²), Chris and his team provide a variety of strategic services to both private and public sector interests related to buildings and building product performance.
