Development TOUR

In Partnership
with CNU

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 19th - 3:30 pm

The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the US Green Building Council will be touring the latest urban redevelopment project in Tampa's downtown - Encore - developed by the Banc of America Community Development Corporation (BACDC) and the Tampa Housing Authority (THA).

Encore is a mixed-use community that is pursing LEED for Neighborhood Development, while individual projects under development at Encore are pursuing LEED Certification (a certification developed by the US Green Building Council)- with a minimum requirement of LEED Silver.

The Sept. 19 event begins at 3:30 p.m. at Ella
Encore Community Room
(1210 E. Ray Charles Blvd.) and includes:

Comments from the development team

-Presentation from the project architect, Baker Barrios

- Presentation from the project civil engineer, Cardno TBE

-Discussion of LEED strategies and efficiencies of community

-Walking tour of the Encore Development, including historical context of the neighborhood
and visit:

o Central Chiller Plant that’s an innovative locally engineered and built system providing chilled water to all buildings at Encore

o Storm Water Capture system that captures rainwater underground to filter and reuse the water for irrigation of the development’s drought-tolerant native landscaping

o Future Solar Park that will lower construction and operating costs by eliminating rooftop air conditioning equipment and enable future solar and other renewable energy opportunities atop the buildings. The system will also generate enough energy to power all the street lighting in the entire neighborhood

-Light refreshments provided
- Covered parking available in Ella at Encore parking garage (no charge) or streetside on E. Ray Charles Blvd.

Link to the ENCORE! Site map - starting point for the meeting is #3 on the plan (The Ella at ENCORE!) Community Room: http://encoretampa.com/site-plan.php

Look for the yellow/black "EVENT" directional signs around the property as well.

Depending on reservations we will head to Lee's Grocery for a happy hour and discussion

About Encore

Urban renewal in harmony with a vibrant past, Encore is a 40+ acre master-planned, mixed-use redevelopment community just north of Downtown Tampa’s urban core. Spanning 12 city blocks, Encore is a catalyst for continuing redevelopment between Tampa’s Central Business District and Ybor City, Tampa Heights and other neighborhoods. Encore’s sustainable, transit-oriented master plan blends multi-family, retail, office, hotel and a grocery store into an energetic new downtown neighborhood that will be home to young professionals, families and active seniors. This “city within a city” concept is accented by public art, a revitalized park, history museum and a town square.
